All too many times, good people become victims in hard times. Many people live paycheck-to-paycheck without any additional resources to cover unexpected expenses. They have no “rainy-day” fund or savings account to draw from to pay for rent, food, or utilities when unfortunate circumstances arise. Often, they are faced with decisions of “Do I pay for food or electricity?” or “rent or a medical bill?”
Sometimes, the sad and untimely loss of a spouse, lack of childcare, illness, and poor living conditions can quickly spiral down to eviction. In many cases, there are no resources for these families to turn to and they do not qualify for government assistance. Ultimately, they do not know where they can get the help they desperately need.
Though the names have been removed for privacy, here are the stories about people of Scottish heritage, facing a crisis and receiving not only a helping hand, but hope for a better future in the Scots’ Charitable Society.

As a charitable organisation we aim to help as many people within the Scottish-American community as we can. Contact Molly Lyttle (keithandmolly@comcast.net) to start the process.
We appreciate that everyone needs a helping hand from time to time and Scots’ Charitable want to make sure that a ‘hand’ is offered to the Scottish-American community. Therefore, the organization has resources and funds in place to offer relief and aid where applicable. You do not have to be a member to request relief – as long as you are of Scottish descent you can apply. Please do not hesitate to get in touch to find out more information – all inquiries stay confidential.
